Well, we made it through…
By Bethany | January 1, 2008
The home stand or “Decisive December” is over, it was a long hard journey where the Blue Jackets went 6-3-2, not bad, not amazing. Last nights game against the Edmonton Oilers was a great game. We’ll start with the obvious, Rick Nash, he’s a monster, scoring his second career hat trick *and the Jackets first at home since November 7, 2003* he had a short handed goal, power play goal, and an empty net goal. The game was close at first, exchanging goals, then in the third period, Ethan Moreau, took a late penalty, and Duvie Westcott fired a shot and Rick Nash tapped in the rebound. Here’s Rick Nash on his hat trick:
“It was good. I’ve been struggling a bit lately. Goals seem to come in bunches. They haven’t been bouncing my way lately and tonight, it was bouncing my way.”
He certainly got all the chances, he had another opportunity short handed but was unable to capitalize on it. When Rick Nash stepped out on the ice, for his third goal the crowd went nuts, he had the wide open net, but he looked around and shot the puck, in it went, and the hats flew, it was great. It was the first hat trick I have ever seen and
well, I am pretty happy about it.
It was different than the Z should’ve been a hat trick but wasn’t situation which I still get choked up thinking about. Nash could have passed the puck,
“He was looking around him, just like ‘Z’ the other night,” defenseman Adam Foote said. “I was chuckling.”
Hitchcock was not: “I would have strangled him.”
I’m pumped, we have momentum going onto our West Coast trip. Our power play is finally clicking, Manny & Brule are coming back and Peca will be back soon. It’s amazing, we’re in a playoff race, it’s January 1, 2008, we CAN make the playoffs, it’s a great feeling Blue Jackets fans!!
