Top 10 Reasons to be a Fan of the CBJ
By Bethany | March 21, 2008
- Rick.Nash. He’s our Captain, our heart and soul, our everything.
- You know at some point we’ll get good.
- Our goaltending, Pazzy proved himself this season, and we have Steve Mason getting ready to come up. Freddy Norrena was the first goaltender in team history to be over .500
- Jared Boll, Stefan Legein, OKT, I think we are set on agitators.
- Jakub Voracek, kid is amazing, and learned English in like a year, thanks to his teammate, Jiri Suchy.(Thanks Q-Girl)
- Ken Hitchcock is the best coach in the NHL, and you can’t tell me otherwise.
- We no longer have that stupid bug on our jersey, although he still is our mascot.
- Nikolai Zherdev, kid has so much talent and is just now showing what he has.
- Rusty Klesla and Ron Hainsey look like twins…they’re not, but they totally do, it’s those blue eyes.
- We are a young team with talent, we’ve never been to the playoffs, we will soon, and we’ll show everyone what we have.

Great list, but still won’t leave my Habs. Hitchcock is very good, but if they don’t have success next year ( I mean make the playoffs) I think his style can wear on players. If results come they will suck it up.
Cool blog!

I definitely agree with you on this one. Nice list, I might make one for the Stars.

Chris, I would never ask you to leave your Habs
Next year will be a better as long as we can get a top line center
Thanks by the way

Elisa, haha I figured as much
Amy, I’m glad someone agrees with me, you should make one!! Too bad you don’t have Smith anymore I liked that little guy.

Actually, I think fellow Czech teammate Jiri Suchy gets the credit for Jakub’s mad English skills. God bless Jiri’s lovely hard hitting self - Jiri come back to us - we need Ds.

Oh, and do you need some Ds? May I suggest that you approach your GM and whisper delicately in his ear “round 1 - Yann Sauvé”. He is a big boy - 6′3, 220lbs, glides like an angel on the ice - and he looks like this http://picasaweb.google.com/conzie9/VsLewiston02/photo#5170758860980879954
He is agile for such a big boy, he seems pretty good with the puck, and he can hit and fight. Even if he isn’t as promising as he would sometimes seem (such as in the top prospects game), at least you have something pretty to look at. It is so hard to tell with defensemen - they take so much more time to develop.
It is because of boys like Sauvé that I should be arrested and kept far far away from QMJHL arenas.
Plus, you may need some Ds to take care of your goalies when someone walks in on your PP and just steals the puck from Jakub - hopefully he gets over this little problem soon. It has been happening a lot lately.

Q-Girl oops, my bad, thanks for telling me!! I didn’t see any other Yuri’s or Jiri’s on the team and I knew he said Jiri so I assumed…see what that does. LOL, he is pretty!!

Don’t worry about it. It was a simple mistake and no one is expecting you to be the Canadian Jr hockey guru. Jiri came to Canada hoping to play in the Q and get drafted to the NHL but alas he did not, so it was better for him to be back in the Czech Rep. where he can at least get paid for playing hockey. Yuri is a Russian by way of America - and he is an American citizen (Stoughton, Mass.). His dad was a Russian Red Army player.
Oh, Jr hockey how I love thee.
Here is one of my top 10 reasons to love Jr hockey- line brawls and goalie fights. The angry goalie in red is Patrick Roy’s son. What a jerk!!!

Bethany, I miss Smitty too.. and Halpern and Jokinen. I’m still not too happy about the trade.
I was hoping the Jackets would get Richards at the trade deadline… It would have been fun to see how Nash would do with him as his center.

Richards I think was a better fit for your club, and as soon as I heard they put Smitty on the trade block I knew he would go to you. We’ll get a top line center this summer…no worries.
