Steve Mason
By Bethany | April 19, 2008
Image via WikipediaSome sad news for Jackets fans. Our little baby goalie, Steve Mason, had successful arthroscopic knee surgery on Friday. His rehab should be 4-6 weeks. If he rehabs quickly, he may be able to play in the Memorial Cup game!! Now, remember, the team that is hosting is automatically in the game. Let’s hope he gets better soon. All the best Steve!! Can’t wait to see you up with the Jackets!!

Oy, poor Steve. I knew there was a problem, but I have not been following the OHL so closely. All I know is that the Rangers lost their first semi-final game to the Soo. The Rangers got him for playoffs and their Memorial cup run. What shitty timing!!!
ps. We are down 2-0. I feel my post-season slipping away. Noooooooooooooo. I feel my little goalie slipping away. Do not fall for goalies that you know are not going to be around next season. Stupid goalies with their goalie charms, their fluffy pre-game hair, their excessive sweating, their stretchy awesomeness, their big sticks, and their fancy helmets and pads. I am too old for this but I have totally wanted to meet him all year and soon he will be gone. Sigh. You had me at ‘no goal’.

Oh no!! Down 2-0!!! How is Jakub doing?! Soke him in as much as you can, because it’s looking like he’s a full time NHLer next season. Who is this goalie that you speak of?! Is he pretty?! Should I know him?!

Jakub is underachieving and he has been ill for a large chunk of the playoffs. His stats have really fallen over the run of the last month. They are good, but not ‘Jakub good’. Everyone on our team thinks they are a superstar, and they play for themselves. We have too many kids already signed to contracts who think they are the shit - the hometown boys are the worst because they are already treated like stars. There is no team - has been no real team for a good part of the year. It does not help that we have mediocre coaching.
Pier-Olivier Pelletier is our goalie, he is soooo soft and pretty and pouty. He was drafted second round by phoenix in 2005 bit then released at the trade deadline last year. He then tried out with Detroit- almost, almost, but no. So then we got him as an overager (20 year old season, just turned 21). He has had a very up and down year and the Halifax fans were not so kind to him even though our defense was brutal. Then he went and got usurped by our backup goaltender for the playoffs. But I adore him so, I call him my other boyfriend. Unfortunately, he does not know that he is my other boyfriend. He is good friends with Brassard. Here he is - the one with the mask up http://static.flickr.com/58/182560400_07e023f865.jpg

What’s wrong with him? Do I need to come make him some soup?! Now I am ALL worried!! Is Jakub one of those guys that thinks he is a superstar? I hope not.
And, wow Pier-Olivier Pelletier is pretty…good work.

No, Jake ( = Jakub) is pretty good, a little viral infection of some sort, both stomach and sinus. The lack of point production may be due to dressing room problems. It was Jake’s team but now it seems like is Brad Marchand’s team. All the fuss in the media is about Brad, all the promotions are about Brad, the fans cheer the loudest for Brad. Brad will be with our team for only 4 months and then he will be gone, and frankly, he has not done much to help this team. It is the hometown boys who seem to be the biggest problem: Andrew Bodnarchuk (Boston), Ryan Hillier (Rangers), and Brad Marchand (Boston).
My first game of the season and Pier’s second game with our team, I had seats pretty much right behind our net. It took me one game to proclaim my love for Pier (there was a poke check and an awesome save on a penalty shot - plus he is super pretty), but two years to tell my boyfriend I love him - true story. I actually turned to my real boyfriend and told him that I was in love with Pier-Olivier Pelletier before the end of the first period. Then I went out and got a custom made Pelletier T-shirt with his name and number. I swore I would not miss a game all year (oops I missed 6). I girl has to keep her dates with her goalie.
I should have known better than to give my heart to our sweet looking goalie because I knew he would be gone by the end of April. The Q sucks - the boys are so love you and leave you.

LOL, I just love saying Jakub!! I won’t lie I have never heard of Brad Marchand, weird.
If I was there when Pier did a poke check I would have died!! I love love love poke checks!! What did your boyfriend say when you said that? Haha, I want a Voracek shirt, really bad!! Maybe Pier will get to play in the big show soon…or at least in the AHL…maybe we will take him. We like goalies…especially after that bus accident that took out two of our goaltenders

I also love poke checks.
Dear Bethany, why aren’t we married?
If you did get Pier I will have to finish up this PhD ASAP and start my postdoc somewhere near Syracuse. Watching goalies is better than foreplay.
Boyfriend said something along the lines of “not another one, you need a bigger bed for all of these goalies”.

LOL!! You’re my favorite!! What are you getting your degree in? My boyfriend forgot my birthday, yes I am bitter.
April 23rd, 2008 at 2:44 pm
The degree is in Biology but I work in neuroscience. I am kinda pro-Philly, Marty Biron has been waiting for his chance in the playoffs for longer than Ovie. Washington will get their turn, just not yet. Sorry about the birthday thing (Washington) and the forgetful boyfriend. I find that Birthdays are never really all that they have been cracked up to be.
If it is any consolation I may be less considerate. Last year on our anniversary my very old dog moved in with us because my mother was going to work out of the country for 6 months. Because the dog was upset I slept on the first floor with him instead of in a bed with my boyfriend. In all the fuss over traveling with the dog and trying to make him comfy I forgot that it was our anniversary.

Q-Girl, yes Marty has been waiting a long time, but I feel bad for Ollie the goalie
I no longer have a boyfriend lol so no worries.
Aw your poor puppy. It’s easy to forget anniversary..I do have to say that, especially with so much going on!!
