Michael Peca WILL be playing…
By Bethany | October 10, 2007
Ya! Michael Peca will be playing tomorrow night against the absolutely wonderful Phoenix Coyotes. And, according to Tom Reed this is a must win. And, I have to say I agree. We’re better than the Coyotes, we have a better coach than the Coyotes and damn it we need to win!! (Twin I love you and I’m sorry if that hurt your feelings) It’s true last year we did great against teams that we’re making the playoffs splitting the season series with the Ducks winning the season series with Dallas etc but when it came to teams like Chicago, Phoenix, and other bottom feeders we weren’t so great.
But Wednesday night in Nationwide Arena is a must-win game for the Blue Jackets. Yep, game 3 of 82 against the Phoenix Coyotes is a must win.
Maybe I’ve been sucking too much Zamboni exhaust, but if you’re the Blue Jackets and are serious about contending for a playoff spot, beating the Coyotes is essential.
How do bad teams improve? They start by winning games they’re supposed to win. That list, for now, is a short one for the Blue Jackets.
The Coyotes might be the worst team in the league. Rick Tocchet wouldn’t take action on his former club.
I can’t say how much I love having the Dispatch writers blog. It really feels like they’re keeping us more and more informed…and we always know what’s going to happen with our team.
Anyway, back to the real point of this post…Peca has been practicing and looks good to go for Wednesdays game. I personally am super excited to see him put on the Blue Jackets uniform. He has been practicing on a line with Brule and Fritsche…seems like a pretty good line to me. Also, Hitch has been trying Modin at center…centering the top line…ya between Rick Nash and David Vyborny…I’m really curious to see how that turns out. I would like to see it in a game setting. As for tomorrow nights game…I would love to see Shelley or Glencross in. I miss them. I miss Glencross a lot…which reminds me this weekend I will be putting up a post about Glencross because I’m a fan. Anyway…go Jackets!

Rude, twin. Just rude.

The Cannon will fire for Peca tonight. I don’t think we are going to see Shelley untill we play a team with a real tough guy. It’s weird that Hitch didn’t play him against Boogard last week… but as long as Boll is doing alright, I think he’ll be in.

I hope the cannon fires a few time for Peca tonight!! And yeah I love seeing Boll in…and according to Portzie we’re dressing 12 forwards and 6 defenseman and Tollie is the odd man out…I’m pretty shocked to be honest.

That is weird that Tollie is out… my vote would be for Duvie to be out.

That’s what I said too Cary! But, my guess is that Tollie is sick or something…just my guess though.

According to Hitch’s call in show today, Shelley is getting scratched while he works on getting a feel for some of the young talent. That may mean that we’ll see a few guys sent back down after the 9 game cup of coffee and Jody back in/callups or that Jody will get more regular ice time and a few more will sit.
The plan to sit Ole is to give him a day off to rest (he is healthy), and they want to do the same with each of the defensemen the next few games. I think the idea from what I understood was to reduce injuries? I’m not sure what I think about it, but we’ll see.

Thanks for the heads up Matt…I can’t listen to Hitch’s show…so I really appreciate it. That’s kind of weird that Ole is the first though…he’s one of our better guys. Oh well…I trust Hitch he knows more about hockey than I ever will.

Yeah, I agree. (Though I admit that as a fellow Norwegian, I’m a bit of an OKT homer. :D)
However, given how tonight went, it’s also possible he sat Ole because I think he very probably would have ripped Shane Doan’s head clean off his neck, and I doubt the leauge would have liked that. (And hey, sooner or later Phoenix will put Shane on the trading block, and he’d look pretty good in the Union Blue…)

I’m with ya there I love OKT. And, Doan a Jacket?? I don’t think so he signed long term no trade clause he doesn’t want to play anywhere else…although I’d love to have him.
