Jackets 4 Wings 3
By Bethany | March 17, 2008
Woo, that win felt really good, and really stressful. We only managed to muster up 17 shots (the entire game) on goal and luckily got 4 goals by Hasek, who was then replaced by Chris Osgood. The Red Wings ended up throwing 46 shots at Freddy Norrena who luckily saved the day.
Alright, first thought, Pazzy got hit with a puck during warm ups, on a shot from Freddy Modin the shot made Pazzy a bit loopy and he was unable to play….uhm…why was Freddy shooting the puck that hard to begin with?! Shame on you Freddy Mo. Shame on you. Freddy Norrena played the best game of his short NHL career. I have always been a Norrena fan, and was thrilled to see this outing by him. The team, like always didn’t play well in front of him, but Freddy was in the zone and up for the challenge.
Aaron Rome had an amazing night. I love this kid. He played 18 minutes in a pairing with Ron Hainsey, they looked amazing together. The thing I like most about Rome is that he is a solid blue liner, he’s been that way since I first started watching him. He hits hard, and he hits often. There is never any emotion on his face, he goes in and gets the job done. Rome also got his first point as a Jacket, way to go champ!
Nash is such a beast. It’s starting to sink in now that he is our Captain. Nash got two assists last night, and played really well for us, like always. Since Hitch got here, Nash has been playing hard every night. He is wonderful.
Zherdev finally notched his 25th goal of the season. It’s about time! I am hoping he gets 30 goals this season. How great would that be? Zherdev has really turned it around and will hopefully be a main stay in this organization for a LONG time.
Manny Malhotra finished the night with two goals and an assist. He centered a line with Nash and Freddy Mo, I’d say we’ll see that line together tomorrow night when the Flames roll into town.
The team didn’t play well, but thankfully, Freddy got us the win. Also, the team has surpassed their point mark from last season we are now sitting with 75 points, with a game in hand on Nashville (80 pts) and Edmonton (77 pts) 12th in the Western Conference. Eighth place in the conference has 82 points, Vancouver. It’ll be an interesting finish to the year, that is for sure. One thing I know, it’s a great time to be a Blue Jackets fan.
