Jackets 3 Blues 0

I don’t even know what to say about this game. It was one of the best games I have seen thus far this year of course…it’s early in the season so there are a lot of games left to be played. Leclaire played outstanding posting his fourth shut out of the year. One of the newest Jackets, Michael Peca, had this to say about Leclaire:
“He’s been doing something special for us. He’s going to credit us for some of the shutouts he’s gotten but I’ll tell you what, all you need in this league is a goalie to make big saves at big times. He’s come up numerous times to make those saves.”
Leclaire has been nothing short of amazing these first few games of the season. And, keeps proving himself to me.
The highlight of the night had to be Rick Nash’s goal which I think will be considered the goal of the year. I think Aaron Portzline describes it the best when he calls it a backhand-switch-to-forehand-between-the-legs-wrist-roof shot. I mean honestly though it was probably the most amazing goal I have ever seen I think it was even better than Ovechkin’s goal.
Also, this game we finally got two back to back wins. We will be going for our third win in a row tonight when we face the San Jose Sharks who are coming off a humbling defeat in Detroit getting just 11 shots on goal. Hopefully they’re tired and us playing earlier than usual messes them up…the Sharks have dominated us in the past and while I don’t think that’s going to happen this season it’s always nice to play a tired team.
Other random thoughts, be sure to check out this article on Ricky. And, according to the Stats Blog we have set the October shutout mark, and yes this is basically the same team as last year…see what a little Hitch and a new General Manager can do for you??
