Introducing…Kris Russell…
By Bethany | January 24, 2008
Oh snap, Kris Russell IS the man. Last night after the Jackets went down 2-0 to the Dallas Stars again, I began to get ticked off. I looked at the time and started wondering if sleep would be better than going through the emotional roller coaster that was sure to come. But, I decided sleep could wait, and believe me I am paying for it today. Anyway, the game started fine, the first period we out shot the Stars 14-5. Boll and Barch got into a little tussle and it was a decent fight and it’s not up on youtube yet. Then the second period came about, and that’s when we fell behind 2-0 then at 14:26 Kris Russell scored his FIRST NHL GOAL!!! This has been something that has been brewing for some time now. I totally called this on my blog from January 21st. It was a HUGE goal for the kid, that was set up from a nice pass from Z. Andrew Murray scored the tying goal, then the Blue Jackets kicked it into another gear. Zherdev received a pass from Klesla (who still looks pretty even after taking a puck to the face) Z then passed the puck right through one of the Stars defenders legs, and Russell jumped up into the play shot the puck right into the net. Nash got an empty netter to put the icing on the cake. Zherdev played an amazing game he is probably our MVP for the year. Russell scored the game winning goal and was the number one Star of the game. It was for sure a HUGE win for the Blue Jackets as we head into Chicago for the end of the road trip. If we can get 6 out of 10 points on the road trip I will be happy. Anyway, remember the name Kris Russell, he’ll be one of the best in the near future.
