Game 2!! AKA Score a GOAL
By Bethany | May 27, 2008
Okay, really now, I thought it was great that the Red Wings won Game 1. I expected them to win game 2 as well…but I thought that the Pens would put up a bit of a fight…at least. The Penguins have not scored in the first two games of the series. You could use the excuse that they’re young…and you probably wouldn’t be too far off. The thing that I am seeing the most in these playoffs is that the Penguins seem a little scared to make a play.
The Red Wings THRIVE on puck possession. And, well in this series, they have had the puck…A LOT. The Penguins have only managed to throw 41 shots at Chris Osgood in the first two games. The Red Wings have been able to get 70 shots at Marc Andre Fleury.
I think that the Penguins need a wake up call and fast. Something has to change, Fleury hasn’t been perfect (obviously), but neither has Crosby. For whatever reason they seem to be focusing on Malkin. Malkin is not the Captain of the Pittsburgh Penguins, Crosby is. It’s time for him to step it up. Score a big goal. Get his team going. That is his duty as Captain. And, if you’re thinking that I’m just a Crosby hater, and I am just saying that because I hate him or whatever. You are wrong. No, I am not a fan of Crosby. I do appreciate his ability however, and I know and understand that he is better than the way he is playing. His entire team can be better. Crosby said himself that he leads by example,
“I think all our guys are what make our team so special,” Crosby said. “I try to lead by example, but it takes everyone.”
Well Crosby, start leading the way. The Penguins need to make this a series. They are undefeated at home. The real test comes tomorrow night. I am still sticking with my Wings in 6 prediction.

Brutal couple of games. Just remember, the CBJ went into Montreal as their season was tanking and SHUT OUT the Habs 3-0. Montreal, one of the top seeds in the eastern conference. I think the question of Detroit winning it all is pretty much moot. The question I’ll pose is: How far down in the Western Conference do you have to get to in order to find a team that Pittsburgh could beat? I’ll suggest that Detroit, Dallas and San Jose all are better. The east just isn’t as tough.

I think you could go further than that. Nashville and Calgary I guarantee could beat them. I just hope the Pens can score a couple of goals, and win a game or two. I need a series…so my hockey fix can last a bit longer.
