CAPTAIN: Minnesota Wild - Marian Gaborik…future Cappy Mikko Koivu
By Bethany | March 15, 2008

I spoke to Kirsten at Land of Lakes and Hockey about their Captain of the month, Gaborik, she’s not a fan, and she talked a lot about the brother of Saku, and I thought it was interesting. Mikko Koivu reminds me a lot of Rick Nash. If hockey is anything like poker, you’ll know that Mikko has the makings of an ace player. Here is what she had to say.
So Gaborik is the Captain right now, but I think that’s complete crap. The fact that we are losing isn’t helping that thought any.
I think our future leader is Mikko Koivu. He’s been playing very well through this tough stretch, and he’s becoming very respected for his maturity and poise. He’s well spoken and polite, but he definitely doesn’t seem to be afraid to get in the occasional sharp word when it’s needed. Many residents of Minnesota agree with me that Koivu is our future captain, and feel that as early as next season he could start wearing the C for a month or two.
There you have it, Captain of the month and future Cappy.

I’ve been pushing for Mikko to be captain the entire season…he’s awesome.

He is! I love that you call him “brother of Saku”.

Elise, he is awesome…it’s in his blood.
Kirsten, I was hoping someone would like that, I stole it from the Bible, ya know, the “Brother of Jared” haha…I really hope you know that, and I’m not just talking to air…lol
