    Canucks 4 Jackets 1

    By Bethany | October 23, 2007

I got to sing O Canada, but, I wasn’t able to see my boys win. Leclaire got the start, Luongo didn’t. The more I think about this game the more frustrated I become. I was there I watched as my team dominated the play. I watched as Leclaire let in two soft goals. I watched as Curtis Sanford made save after save in his first start of the season. The second period was completely dominated by the Jackets and we held the Canucks without a shot on goal. Nash scored the loan Jacket goal on a 5 on 3. There was a 4 minute power play in the second period which we weren’t able to capitalize on. Leclaire took the blame for the goals which he should they were soft especially the first one.

“Maybe a little bit but it still goes through me. That’s a save I have to make. Especially when we play tight games. These are low scoring games and it doesn’t take much. You just make a couple mistakes and that’s what makes the difference for us being only one goal down, pulling the goalie and we have a chance to go to overtime. I don’t think we played a bad game. We put a lot of shots, and we did play a good game but I think coming down 2-0 right off the bat is hard on the guys.”

Last night was one of those nights I kept thinking if we had an elite goaltender we’d be good you know. If we had a Brodeur, a Luongo, anyone except Leclaire. I then have to remind myself that they all have bad nights. As of right now Leclaire has one of the best Goals Against Average in the NHL. He has more shutouts then anyone else. I have to remind myself he’s still developing. I’m becoming ok with that. I’m beginning to adore his quick glove hand, and man those pads he can get them down…(now if he’d just close his 5 hole!!)
