Another trade…
By Bethany | February 1, 2008
The Columbus Blue Jackets have traded Curtis Glencross for Dick Tarnstrom. I will have more information on this post as I receive it.
Glencross has 6 goals and 6 assists and is a +3 in 36 games this season. Tarnstrom in 29 games has 1 goal 4 assists and is a -6…keep in mind he is coming from the Oilers who only have four player who is a plus or even. I just hope that Tarnstrom fits in with the Blue Jackets…oh who am I kidding, I shouldn’t be worried about this trade, Howson came from the Oilers, he knows these players well…he knows what we need…and well, I don’t think that we’re in sell off mode. I will continue posting about this situation on this post. I hope that the Dispatch gets some quotes up soon or BlueJackets.com
Alright, so I finally got some quotes from Portzline’s article:
“Curtis established himself as an NHL player,” Howson said. “He’s got some upside. He may turn out to be a very good regular NHL player. But the strength of our organization is on the wing, and we have to be willing to part with some of that to address our needs.
“Dick certainly has some power-play credentials,” Blue Jackets general manager Scott Howson said. “One of our weaknesses is not having enough puck-moving defensemen, and Dick will help us in that area.”
Tarnstrom will be a UFA at the end of the season. A love post to Glencross will come tomorrow…for now I need to prepare for college hockey.
