    Another loss to the Preds

    By Bethany | March 29, 2008

What else is new right? The Jackets have dropped all but one game to the Preds this season (and last season). What is it about the Nashville Predators that makes them impossible to beat? Why do we make them look so good when they are playing against us? My guess, well, it’s a lot of things. The Preds have the confidence, beating us 15 out of 16 times they have nothing to lose when they play us.

I will say this, Dan Ellis, was the story, he stopped all 43 shots that the Blue Jackets threw at him. Norrena wasn’t great, and Ken Hitchcock when asked to comment on his play simply said “No.” I guess that says it all, more than I can say I guess.

Jared Boll came back from his hip injury and took out Jordin Tootoo. Tootoo wasn’t the same the rest of the game. After the Boll and Tootoo fight, Darcy Hordichuk challenged the Blue Jackets bench. Chimera took him up on the challenge and threw him into the Jackets bench. Hordichuk left the game and did not return.

Clay Wilson and Aaron Wilson continue to impress Ken Hitchcock. Here is what he had to say about the youngsters:

“(Wilson) was good. He’s adding a lot to our group, he brings and element to our team we haven’t had all year. It’s really good to see. Both he and Rome bring a lot to our team – it’s really exciting, for now and the future.”

Even though the Jackets threw 43 shots at Ellis, Hitchcock still thinks we could have done more. I agree, we didn’t play well, and you couldn’t tell that we were dominating the shots on goal. We played the first period extremely well, but, it just wasn’t good enough.

Dick Tarnstrom and Ron Hainsey both suffered head injuries, so it is looking extremely likely that Wilson will finish out the season with the Jackets.

Anyway, it was the last time that we will see the Predators this season. I am VERY happy about it. Why you may ask?! Well here is why:

    1. No more calls from my cousin in Nashville rubbing it in that the Preds won.
    2. I don’t have to deal with Jordin Tootoo anymore.
    3. That means maybe we won’t lose anymore…maybe.

Anyway the post game videos are after the jump.

Damn. They really deserve a good whooping by you guys. Good call on Bolls and Tootoo. Bolls totally whomped on him.

It was an odd game with a big group from Toronto in town (I think for the Crew game tonight) and they were yelling all kinds of crap.

The huge amount of shots with no goals sucked but

Tootoo getting his butt kicked and Hordichuk landing on Nash’s lap right in front of us was great.

The radio show in the pub with Nash was so lame because he was surrounded by security guys that wouldn’t let him stop and chat with the fans- I had two very sad boys that waited forever just to get their hats signed and then didn’t- whatever. They don’t do that when the other players are in there- they really shouldn’t do it with the “franchise guy” either.

      ok- done bitching

      Have fun in Chicago!

Amy, I got your e-mail but have been really busy so I haven’t written you back. I’m sad you can’t go!! Preds do need to lose to us, more than once every 16 games.
Elisa, I heard about the group from Toronto, that is strange, I didn’t know Canadians liked hockey haha. Kidding.
They wouldn’t let the kids talk to Nash?! That’s sad!! Why did they have so much security?! I don’t get it. Until I met you I didn’t even know they did that in the bar, next game I go to I will check it out! I will have fun and take tons of pictures!!

I don’t think they do it very often (have players in the pub). It was crowded when Nash was in there so I stayed out- Andy took the boys in.
I found a quiet corner and spent time going through emails and cleaning out my inbox. I’m so exciting.

I figured as much. I know, I’m so sad I can’t even watch it on TV, I have to tape it! I have to just shelter away from the media and the paper until I can watch it. You’ll get Nashville next time, hell we’ll beat them for you on friday (I broke down and bought tickets since I haven’t even been to one game this year).

Elisa, ha that sounds like me. Well sort of during the game yesterday, I kept checking my phone and e-mailing and stuff and my moms like that is so rude. Rick Nash is mad at you. At that point I kept my phone in my purse lol.
Amy, you missed a great game. It was an interesting atmosphere in Chi-town to say the least…but fun. Anyway, I will write more in my post game.
